A leather jacket is a motorcycling staple, and it is written in law somewhere that every motorcyclist has to own at least one leather biker jacket. Leather is very comfortable to wear, and becomes more so with age. Leather is also abrasion resistant, although this depends on the thickness of the leather and, these days, textiles can offer even more protection than leather. Leather is not warm, per se, but with base layers or a thermal liner a leather jacket can be fine in the cold. But leather is emphatically not what you want in the wet. It soaks up the moisture, and can very quickly make you feel very cold.
